Original Gargoyles - Marty Turco, Dallas Stars, NHL, 2009-2010

The story

David Gunnarsson's Gargoyles mask designs for the Dallas Stars star keeper Marty Turco have been enormously popular over the years.. David felt that he had new characters inside him that wanted out on Turco's new masks... So David sketched and used his ability to, like a chameleon, form and create any kind of painting; photo-realistic, logo graphics, old school, horror, cartoon, whatever!

In this case the theme got more nasty and scary. David showed the more frightening Gargoyles for Marty who liked them. With the new raw and rough look the Gargoyles are crueler than ever. But just like before they sit as guards on each side of the mask, no unwanted visitors are welcome here, that's for sure! And who would dare to come close?

The Gargoyles are sitting on a mirror blank wall created with DAVEART XXFX, effectful to the max.

This mask is made for the white uniform of the Dallas Stars. The white base color is a perfect contrast to the green monsters, making them extremely distinct which always is important. On the chin David has created a contrast-rich design with the player's number and Dallas stars in the most glittering XXFX effects.

As always when David is in action the entire design is created with awesome detail work. The barbed wire in the background gives a nasty feeling, and a Gargoyle skull in the front sets the tone. And DAVEART Holographix FX in the white background where David has painted the look of Gargoyle skin...
