SnowAction in NY - Steve Valiquette, New York Rangers, NHL, 2008-2009
The story
Steve had a clear vision of how he wanted his new mask design. It was to be a continuation of Steve's so popular mask design from the previous season, also that one created by David Gunnarsson.
Steve told David his plans, and an eager David immediately started to create... In focus again is Spider-Man all over the head, making it look like it's Spidey in the goal! This time the black in Spidey's suit has been painted blue to fit with Rangers' colours...!
And as always in David's paintings a tremendous detail wor, check out the pattern in the red, just like on the real Spider-Man, and also look at the Twin Towers that are mirrored in the eyes! 3D effects to the max!
Steve wanted much white in his design, and got the unique and brilliant idea to have a snow storm breaking through on the mask!
On one side you see the Statue Of Liberty, of course wearing the white Rangers jersey... On the other side some important NY buildings that Steve wanted to have. The buildings are painted in chrome style, with extra much white, of course.
Towards the chin in the snow storm there are stoch exchange arrows. On the chin a tribute painting to WTC, with a ribbon around, painted in dymanic style.
The entire design is created with a fantastic detail work, glittering metallic effects and strong contrasts, that together create a unique design delivered from David's studio.
