NJ Devils PantherMorphing - Kevin Weekes, New Jersey Devils, NHL, 2008-2009
The story
David Gunnarsson has been creating Kevin Weekes' enormously popular NHL masks for more than five years. Kevin always wants black panthers on his masks. This time it was back to basics, with a very much graphical panther on each side of the mask. This is a mix of Kevin's first Carolina mask and his latest NJ Devils masks.
On both sides the graphical black panther morphs out from the NJ Devils logo on the side of the chin. Maxxed with action, contasts and 3D effects.
The flaming white outlines give a perfect contrast to the whole and make the panthers pop out.
The claws go in DAVEART XXFX SpyraChrome, not so easy to see in the photos, but they are like mirrors!
In the base between the metallic layers David has painted a carbon look that raises the 3D feeling even more. Details, details, as always in David's creations.
The design is framed and tied together by graphic lines inspired by the New Jersey Devils team uniform. The wire has been painted to melt together with the whole.
On the backplate you can see a number of important personal details for Kevin.
